The name of the Salón pays homage to the specific tango style of "Villa Urquiza", which is characterised by its solemn elegance and surprising virtuosity. "Villa Urquiza" is a northern quarter of Buenos Aires, where the "Estilo Urquiza" developed in the mid 40’s.
The most significant representative of the new style, the legendary Luis "Milonguita" Lemos, came from the clime "La Siberia de Villa Urquiza", where nowadays the "Club Sin Rumbo" is located, the so called "Catedral del Tango".
The following years and decades the Urquiza Style was further shaped decisively by several dancers: Milonguita’s protégé, El Turco José Brahemcha, lent his own inimitable
quality to the expression of this style by widening the space of movement. Miguel Manzini defined the character of the gancho in the style by synchronising it with the movement of the partner and the culmination of the music. Juan Luna served as a role model for dancing the Milonga without traspies. Osvaldo Mozzi ("El Nene Fó") engaged in listening and walking puristically.
The Salón Urquiza does not teach or communicate an abstract and synthetic form of something called "Argentine Tango". Instead the aim is to preserve and develop further the tradition and the history of "Tango Argentino" in the Style of Urquiza.
